Help escaping wifi hell

#1

I’ve soldered the wifi board to some headers, soldered headers to the lp0, removed the erroneous resistor, and inspected everything under magnification. Still can’t get past cmd 53 error. Any suggestions?

Using the lichee_zero-Debian-LXDE_800_alpha.dd image with updated r8723bs.ko. nmtui doesn’t show any networks. wpa_supplicant.conf is good, used syntax from a working system.

“new users can only put one image in a post” oh that’s helpful

“You’re replying too quickly. Please wait 13 seconds and try again”

It seems you are using 2.54mm slot to connect wifi module, it may case poor contact?
or maybe you can change to 2nd wifi module?

#4

This may not be very helpful, but I have only been able able to get wifi working on the mindb image, and not the debian _lxde. I am still messing around with it, so I’ll keep you posted if I can figure anything out.

@combs did you by chance change the DTB File to the one supplied for the dock? If you have not, the sdio is not setup at boot without using the dock DTB File (and the result will be the error you showed in your post). You can find it on my site if you need it (you will also need the updated boot.scr found on the site as well): https://licheepizero.us

Direct link to DTB File: https://licheepizero.us/downloads/sun8i-v3s-licheepi-zero-dock.dtb

Direct link to boot.scr: https://licheepizero.us/downloads/boot.scr

Hope this helps!

Cheers!

I just wanted to give an update stating that I have not been able to figure anything out for wifi and the debian_LXDE image, again it works flawlessly on the mindb image…No cigar on the LXDE… I have even copy/paste the contents of the files from sd card to the other, still nada. It has to be a setting/configuration somewhere…

Are you sure you are using sun8i-v3s-licheepi-zero-dock.dts ?
Orignal LXDE is using sun8i-v3s-licheepi-zero.dts.

#8

I copied the dtb and the boot.scr specifying it to the boot partition. Is there anything else necessary to use it?

#9

am I confused about .dtb vs .dts?

I reflowed the wifi board with a rework station. It lists networks now but always fails to connect (and yes I am supplying the right wpa pass)

P.S., when I received the board, the antenna was bent over in a way that contacted some of the pins. I hadn’t noticed this when first trying to get it working.
